Butler was attacked!
We were out for a walk on leash on a trail down by the river (Butler's favorite walk). We came upon a pair of dogs off-leash with their owners nowhere to be seen. At first, it looked like they wanted to play but they started nipping at Butler's flank and it didn't feel right.
Before I could even step between them, one of the dogs grabbed his leg and bit HARD. I kicked the attacker REALLY hard (glad I had my boots on!) and the pair of them ran away.
I managed to carry Butler back to the car (he's not a tiny puppy anymore!) and drove to the vet. They checked him over and x-rayed his leg. Fortunately, it isn't broken but the bite did tear up his tendon pretty badly. He needs surgery if he is going to walk or run properly again.
The bill for the care is $3,500. I've got about $1,000 in my savings but, as I'm just working part time while I finish my degree, I don't have any extra cash.
I'm hoping my family and friends can help me give Butler the care he needs. You all know how he loves to chase a ball and jump through my training hoop. I'd hate to see this traumatic event those things away from him.
Anything you can do will really help. ❤️

What is crowd-financing?
Crowd-financing is similar to crowdfunding used by sites like GoFundMe but has significant advantages when used for paying for veterinary care procedures.
- Money collected is paid directly to the vet clinic on the pet's behalf and never touched by the pet parent(s). This ensure the funds can only be used to pay for animal care.
- The family's privacy is better protected as they are not required to share their campaign publicly on social media.
- The program requires the pet parent(s) to raise enough funds to complete the procedure. If not enough contributions are collected, and the goal is not reached, all funds are returned to the donors. This reduces the risk of trying this innovative technique for raising funds as the pet will receive the care they need or the donors get all their money back.
Do I get a tax receipt?
While giving to a campaign is a charitable act, as it is paid to a business, it is not eligible for a tax receipt.
How long does the crowd-financing campaign run?
The campaign runs until a deadline. This is usually 14 days from its launch. If the campaign reaches its goal prior to the deadline, the campaign is closed and the funds are used to pay for the treatment.
What happens if the campaign doesn't reach the goal?
If the campaign does not reach the goal in the timeframe allocated, all payments are cancelled and returned to the donors without cost.
