Mission

Their mission is to unite highly trained conservation detection dog teams with researchers to collect scientific data. Their aim is to provide mentorship, education, and foster collaboration among scientists, novice handlers, and local communities.

Service

K9 Conservationists train dogs to sniff out data -- or train others to work with their own dog. From carcasses on wind farms to invasive mussels on boats to the scat of jaguars in the Guatemalan jungle, their teams are up to the challenge. They specialize in the Great Plains, Rocky Mountains, and Latin America.

Their dog training methods are rooted in the Humane Hierarchy of dog training. Wherever possible, the dogs go through double-blind odor recognition trials using relevant distractor odors prior to deployment.

Their dogs bring boundless enthusiasm (and charisma) to the dirty side of data collection. Their joy (and accuracy) for finding hard-to-find data keeps the teams coming back for more.

The founder dog, Barley, is a rescue. They are passionate about giving high-energy dogs the best life possible through work while providing top-notch ecological detection services to our partners and clients.

Working dogs are my passion and I am serving as their Ambassador!

  • I'm Holly Cook and I am a strong advocate for working dog organizations.
    This campaign is helping to raise necessary funds for Rogue Detection Teams, Steven's Pass Avalanche Dogs, K9 Conservationists and Wind River Bear Institute.
  • Working dog organizations are vital but they lack two things: time and money.
    All of these organizations serve their communities in important ways. In addition to training the dogs and personnel, these organizations also have to raise money, but they have very little time to do so.
  • I am serving as ambassador for working dog organizations.
    This is where I come in! As a self appointed ambassador for working dog organizations, I can create fun fundraising opportunities that engage my audience, as well as the organization's audience. In a perfect world, all of the audiences would come together to support all of the organizations.
  • How can you help?
    Support one or all of the organizations with a monetary donation or check out their Amazon wish lists (if they have one). Follow them on social media and share!
  1. K9 Conservationists as an added incentive, if you donate $100 or more to K9 Conservationists, you will receive a hand written post card and some "fieldwork finds" (no, it's not scat.)

  3. Wind River Bear Institute as an added incentive, if you donate $100 or more to Wind River Bear Institute, you will receive a signed post card from Soledad and a WRBI logo sticker!
  4. Rogue Detection Teams

The funds that are raised during this fundraiser will help each organization purchase items for the dogs, such a food, equipment, vet bills and other daily needs.

$20 - could purchase a small bag of dog food

$50  - could purchase a large bag of dog food

$100 - could purchase a large bag of dog food and small, essential equipment (leashes, collars, etc)

$200 - could purchase a working dog vest

$300 - could pay for a standard vet visit

$500 - could purchase equipment such as gps trackers, specialized tools & equipment for the dogs, OR it could purchase 10 large bags of dog food OR pay an unexpected, emergency vet bill.

Think about how much you spend on your own personal dog, now consider having multiple dogs who have specialized jobs!
