A new variant of RHDV2 (Rabbit haemorrhagic disease), a sudden, highly contagious, and fatal virus affecting wild and domestic rabbits and hares, has been working its way across North America. 

It's now made its way to British Columbia.

To sway any fears, this disease is not known to affect humans.

RHDV2 causes short illness and death in rabbits; the only prevention is a vaccine. 

With around 1000 rabbits to vaccinate, the cost to will be substantial.  

Vaccinating our buns is not only important for our sanctuaries, it helps keep the number of cases low in the region.

The most important thing we can all do is ensure all domestic rabbits have the opportunity for vaccination.
