Lisa arrived at SAINTS in August of 2021 as an owner surrender, bringing with her some ongoing health challenges. She suffers from fecal water syndrome, which requires her to be fed a mash ten times a day instead of hay. Additionally, she has Cushing's disease. At SAINTS, Lisa holds a prominent role as our top mare and oversees all the equines with authority. Despite her health issues, she is more inclined towards human companionship than socializing with other horses. Lisa enjoys attention and affection from her human caregivers above all else.
HOW THIS FUNDRAISER WORKS
The Amazing Raise has always brought fun to fundraising. The SAINTS' animals are divided into four teams based on the area of SAINTS they call home: the House, the MP Room, the Barn, and the Shop. Each group races to raise the most money for their respective areas, and it's all very exciting for such a great cause! Each group has a team captain, and we'll be sharing their stories to showcase the types of animals that come to live at SAINTS.

WHAT THE MONEY RAISED WILL GO TO
This year, we start The Amazing Raise with many expenses. We have a new 5-acre property that we have not yet moved to, as all the upgrades and renovations must be completed before relocating. This means we have two properties to maintain, resulting in double the hydro, insurance, Fortis, and internet bills.
Typically, each year we plan a project to use The Amazing Raise funds. This year, we ask our supporters to help us cover our operational costs since much of our free money needs to go into developing the new property. We still have a shelter to run, which requires funds for feed, medical supplies, utilities, rent, and most importantly, veterinarian costs. In 2024, our veterinarian costs exceeded $335,000. So, this Amazing Raise is all about keeping our shelter running smoothly.

To provide a safe haven for senior, palliative and special needs animals.
SAINTS is a place for senior and special needs animals who have no place else to go. In our care they receive appropriate medical attention, live in a safe and open environment, and get to enjoy their remaining years being celebrated for who they are as individuals.
If, in time, we can find them a special home of their own then we do. If that very special home never comes, they will be safe and cherished right here with us until the end of their days.
