We are starting The Amazing Raise early this year.  Why (the reader asks silently). The answer is we have so many capital improvements that need to be addressed and the earlier we can fundraise the earlier we can start some of these projects.

HOW THIS FUNDRAISER WORKS

The Amazing Raise has always put the fun into fundraising.  The SAINTS’ are divided into the 4 teams based on that part of SAINTS they consider home. There is the House, the MP Room, the Barn, and the Shop.  Each group is on a race to raise the most money for their respective areas.  It’s all very exciting and for such a great cause!  Each group has a team captain.  We will be sharing their stories in order to showcase the types of animals that come to live at SAINTS.

WHAT THE MONEY RAISED WILL GO TO

The land and buildings were purchased late 2005.  According to BC Assessment the original house was built in 1956. Over the years many adjustments have been made by previous owners and SAINTS.  Since January 2006 we have had over 1,000 animals on site.  Most passed away at SAINTS and some found forever homes off site.   The many, many saintly residents are constantly taking their toll on land and buildings.  We rely on this event particularly to fundraise for improvements on our property.

Below are some of the upgrades we need to make.

• A new well.  Last summer the wooden structure the pump sat on caved.  We replaced it with the understanding that it was a bandaid solution.  Drier summers are now a reality and the current system is no longer sufficient for SAINTS. We are using The Amazing Raise as a way to raise the funds.  If we can raise those funds now we could potentially have a new well before the summer heat comes.  Estimated Costs $35,000
• A new furnace. We had hoped to install a new one last year but weren’t able to.  Ours is ancient and on its last legs.  Estimated cost is $5,500
• A heating and ventilation system that can keep up with all the humans and animals breathing at SAINTS.  Estimated costs $9,500 (this would include new duct work 
• Windows in the MP room need to be properly framed.  In the winter we use plastic on the windows to keep the heat in. It is suspected the ceiling in the main entrance of the MP building has mold/mildew buildup.  The roof has a wood rot issue and needs to be replaced.  Estimated cost $10,000
• Commercial grade washer and dryer.  Along with the purchase, an upgrade to the electrical panel would be required to accommodate a commercial washer and dryer.  Over our many years at SAINTS we have used household grade washer and dryers which has resulted in us having to replace them more than once in a year. 
  We are very lucky that our supporters have donated used machines. SAINTS does 20 loads in a day and we really do require commercial grade machines.  Estimated cost $5,000
• Fencing is always an ongoing issue in that we are always repairing  or replacing
• With technical apparatus always changing we needed to replace our on-site security cameras as new technology wasn’t always communicating with the old.  Full disclosure we already paid for this upgrade but am including it here as it was a significant cost at $15,000

We aren’t sure how much we can accomplish and how fast but above is our wish list.
