Abandoned pet dogs and cats in Ukraine's warzone need your help

In the months since the invasion of Ukraine, 12 million people have fled their homes, leaving everything behind, including between 1-2 million beloved pets. Millions of stray cats and dogs are now without shelter, proper care, or protection. These abandoned animals roam the streets, facing hunger, disease, and an uncertain fate. Historically low sterilization and vaccination rates in Ukraine is already resulting in an exploding population of stray animals, and a looming rabies crisis which will impact entire communities for decades to come.

No large NGO is addressing this situation. The massive spread of rabies will not only kill innocent stray animals, but pose a deadly risk to returning families and especially children, who are most susceptible to this terrifying disease.

There is a solution

Ukraine War Animals Relief Fund (UWARF) is a registered charitable organization dedicated to providing veterinary services, including sterilization, vaccination, and microchipping, to address the urgent problem of unvaccinated and unsterilized abandoned pets in Ukraine. We are a network of citizens, mobilizing a dedicated team of veterinarians and volunteers to undertake a crucial mission in August 2023.

With this mission (our 5th) our aim is to vaccinate, sterilize, and provide vital medical care to over 2,275 animals in priority Ukraine regions and towns including Beregovo, Ivano-Frankivsk, Shevchenkovo, Kupyansky District, Eschan, Nikolaev region, and Marganets.

To carry out this life-saving and urgent mission, we need to raise enough to cover the cost of veterinary supplies, clinic space, medical treatments, transportation and honorariums for the local volunteers who undertake the dangerous work of humanely capturing each animal for treatment.
