Announcement: Suspension of operations of the organization PAWS (Protecting Animals Without Shelter)

We are truly saddened to announce that we are forced to temporarily suspend the operations of our animal welfare organisation PAWS, due to the economic difficulties we currently face.

Specifically, up to the 30/09, our pending vet bills amount to €12,000 and we expect to exceed the amount of €15,000 by the end of October for the vet expenses of the animals already under our care.

As you probably understand, we are unable to take on any new cases, until we manage to pay off, at least, a large sum of our current debts. These vet expenses were not solely created by the vet care of animals available for adoption , but mainly due to the fact that we take on cases such as:

Sterilisation programs for large cat colonies (army camps, hospitals, parks, churches), vet care and hospitalisation as and when necessary.

Feeding of cat colonies.

Severely injured or abused animals.

Permanent fostering of animals with chronic health conditions or behavioural issues.

Vet expenses for dogs at municipal or village pounds.

Urgent transfer of dogs from the aforementioned pounds to paid private kennels, due to health or behavioural issues.

Provision of help to citizens who foster animals on their own initiative by covering vet expenses and promoting for adoption.

Most of our actions lead to huge costs while not creating any profits and thus, at the moment, we are unable to respond to any new cases.

Unfortunately, unless we manage to cover a large portion of the said debts, we will be forced to suspend our operations indefinitely.
