Imagine you skin crawling with fleas. They bite at your skin; you itch terribly and as they crawl across your face you wonder if there will ever be any hope. Then you lose your home and land in a loud shelter. Life gets more frightening. This is the backstory for little Rocky. One can only imagine.
When word of his plight reached us we stepped up to help right away. Pictures did not sufficiently show the damage to this sweet little boy. He lost 75-80% of his fur. His skin was red and irritated. He was weak and clearly suffering from parasitic disease. Still his heart was full of love and his tail wagged as we picked him up to love him.
Rocky is riddled with a range of medical issues and for that we turn to our friends in Internal Medicine at RBVH. He is anemic. He has a high parasitic burden. His mouth is horrible. So, what’s the plan? We will try to keep costs down by completing the labs in our lab, but exams, x-rays and medications will add up quickly. Still, without care and specialized attention Rocky will soon earn his wings. He is 10 years old, but we all know seniors need love too.
Like so many of the dogs we help, Rocky’s care is not an expected expense and today we are reaching out to ask in your help to offset the near $1,500 in charges he will likely incur. Keep in mind, we wouldn’t change a thing in his care, but this bill is crippling for DRBC too.
So today, we are turning to the DRBC Gang to help. Sometimes love just won’t do it and Spencer really needs your financial support. Remember, nothing is free to the rescue. Without support from kindhearted people like you, DRBC cannot be there when a pupper needs us most. Prayers and good thoughts won’t get it done either.
