Senior Animals In Need Today Society hasn't added a story.
This campaign is coming off our “One Donation=Double The Impact”
( https://fundrazr.com/matchingcampaign17000 ) We
achieved our goal on the 4th day of a 24 day campaign. In order to
take advantage of the 20 unused days we have morphed the campaign into
a wish list for the saintly residents of the shelter.
There are many, many tasks, supplies, and dreaded repairs and medical
costs that are needed on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis. We rely
on the generosity of our supporters to ensure that our shelter can run
efficiently. Hence this campaign is called “wishes 4 whiskers (and
beaks) as every dollar helps us to ensure our mission “to provide a
safe haven for senior, palliative, and special needs animals” is
carried out.
The items on the wish list is but a fraction of the needs of the shelter but they are a good representative of the types of costs the shelter must cover.
Wishes
As everyone can imagine a shelter with older dogs (or incontinent dogs) goes through an awful lot of dog beds. The Kuranda style dog beds keeps the bed up off the floor and therefore lessens the workload on our staff. It makes it much easier for them to keep the floor clean. There are many sizes and different companies that produce these beds and the price can run from $40 to $270 the $100 is an average.
SAINTS water is provided by well water. That means the well needs to cover the washing of the shelter, supply water to our residents, and even bathing them all with well water. It isn't unusual for our well to dry up and then we are forced to have water trucked in... and added expense. We would very much like to purchase rain barrels to conserve water for when the well dries up (and yes it also great for conservation)
A huge percentage of our dogs and cats come in with dental issues. That costs is $1000 - $1500 per animal. The picture is of Skittles who, at 13 years of age, he came in with a need for dental work. He is typical of the many small dogs we entered SAINTS over the years. (PS after receiving a dental Skittles was lucky enough to find his very own home)
