Meet Our Little Saint: A Heartfelt Appeal for a Disabled Puppy

Meet our latest little Saint, a puppy with a story that tugs at the heartstrings. It all began when a kind-hearted woman was in a Canadian Tire car park in Penticton. She noticed some people selling puppies from the back of their pickup truck in the scorching heat. Concerned, she approached them and was heartbroken to see one of the puppies with deformed hind legs. The seller told her that this puppy wasn’t developing correctly and that they were going to kill her if no one took her. Without hesitation, the woman decided to rescue the puppy.

Realizing that she lacked the resources and knowledge to care for such a young puppy, estimated to be only 3-4 weeks old, she reached out to us at SAINTS. Due to the Provincial holiday, other shelters were unavailable, but one of our dedicated staff members managed to pick up the puppy on their way back from Kelowna. After a three-hour drive, the puppy arrived at our manager’s house, bloated and weak, with a blue sheen in her eyes and only two tiny teeth coming in.

Despite her challenges, this little fighter began to show signs of improvement. Our manager cared for her through the night, feeding her milk and food, and she soon overcame her initial bloating. On August 6th, a vet confirmed that her hind legs are indeed deformed, with no kneecaps, twisted fibula and tibia, and an unusually large gap between them. Though her bones are still developing, it is clear that she will need surgery as she grows to ensure she can live a full and happy life.

We shudder to think of the fate of the other puppies, who still need their mother’s milk. The woman who rescued our little Saint plans to report the sellers to the BC SPCA, but in the meantime, we need your help. We must purchase special puppy food, milk, and provide extensive veterinary care.

By supporting SAINTS and our brave little puppy, you can become the hero of her story. Your contributions will ensure she receives the care and surgery she needs to thrive. In exchange, you will receive the immense satisfaction of knowing you helped save a life and gave a disabled puppy a chance at a happy future.

Her spirit is strong and playful, and with your help, we hope she will recover fully and find a loving home. Thank you to the incredible woman who rescued her and to everyone involved in her transport and care. Together, we can make a miracle happen.

We named her little "Lady".

Please donate today to help our little Saint and others like her. Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
