Dachshund Rescue South Florida hasn't added a story.
So....It has been quite the weekend around here as we welcomed 17 dogs late last night.
We have barely caught our breath from the 23 who came to us at the end of March and these beautiful dogs needed a place to go, so we took a big 'ole breath, dusted off the battle plan and did it again - late nights, early mornings, coordination that rivals the landing at Normandy, travel planning, transportation, supply ordering, making spreadsheets in a moving car, hours of Pandora, enough gas station snacks to require weeks of detox, - but we have them and everyone arrived home safely.
Please meet Pepsy, Star, Goofy, Pluto, Finnegan, Honey, Maise, Madeline, Londyn, Billie, Raja, Andie, Frank, Rhory, Prim, Banjo, and Jewel.
We are back on the hook again for 17 more of everything needed for an intake - 17 beds, blankets, harnesses, 17 sets of blood work, 17 Capstars, 17 spay/neuters, 17 rounds of vaccines, 17 heartworm tests, 17 dentals, and this is before we find out if anyone needs any additional care. After some job cost accounting on the last round, we are averaging $500 per dog before we even open a crate.
Our treasurer is currently hyperventilating into a paper bag as we prepare to put their story out and we have fingers and paws crossed that our community will be here to support us again as we are ramping up to make 17 more happy endings.
This has the potential to be a huge hit to our war chest and will govern who we can say yes to moving forward. We are a little freaked out and are going to say a prayer and light a candle and hope that you agree that they are all worth it.
As always, all it it takes is $1 to get bragging rights that you are part of the hardest loving, most compassionate team in rescue, making South Florida safe for the breed that we all love.
An extra special thanks goes out to a couple of extremely dedicated members of Dr. Bruce's team who came out in the late night/early morning hours to help get them all cleaned up, fed, and had clean kennels ready for them!! Rescue is truly a team sport.....
Stay tuned to our social media feeds for introductions and thank you in advance for any support to cover their care! xoxo
