The rescue blast went out from the shelter seeking any solution for her other than the one that would come if nobody came for her - Rescue Placement only-HBC/Hit By Car.
From the medical notes we knew that at the very least she had a broken leg, her tail was dead/didn't wag (which could indicate other neuro damage - who doesn't love a giant unknown). The medical report was one thing and then we saw her photo....you could tell she was in pain and her eyes were so sad.
There was only one way out and that was via rescue and there aren't a lot of rescues stepping up to do broken leg surgeries with the possibility of "unknown" neuro issues on top. We couldn't let her sit there in pain - we had to get her out as quickly as we could.
Our intake team placed their hold, and after a short while, her freedom ride came, and this beautiful girl started her new life over, christened Skittles, and she was on her way to Access Specialty Animal Hospital who were aware of her condition waiting on her arrival.
Skittles is under the care of Dr. Goett, a Diplomate of Surgery, who, along with his team, will examine Skittles, get her blood worked up, confirm what is going on with her leg and then develop a treatment plan for her.
