We have learned over the years that neglect and betrayal can come in many different flavors when it comes to treatment of dogs by their former “families” but Lilia’s story hurt our heart in a way that we have not seen before…

We received a plea from a Vet in Miami that they had a little girl, 7-9 years old, that had been hit by a car and was picked up by a Good Samaritan who knew who this little angel belonged to. 

When the Good Samaritan let their neighbor know that she found their little girl, and she had been hit by a car, her “family” said that they did not want her. 

In case that alone isn’t bad enough, it seems that this sweet senior had started walking in circles, and they didn’t want to deal with that, or get her treatment, so they just put her outside when they no longer wanted to care for her.

We have no words.

So now the Good Samaritan has literally rescued someone else’s dog, who has been hit by a car. She did the only thing Good Samaritan’s do and took this sweet girl to the nearest emergency vet, who then reached out to us hoping for a miracle.

Meet Lilia, named after the amazing Vet who went out of her way to look for help for a sweet girl whose family had turned their back on her when she needed help most.

Lilia is a little banged up, and we need to get a better handle on what is causing the circling (we are suspecting old dog vestibular disease), but Lilia is safe with us now and we will allow Karma to do its thing for her “family” who literally turned her out into the streets.

Since 2009 our miracles have been made $1 at a time so that we can continue to say “yes we can help” and be a safety net for those sweet souls who have nobody to come for them.  Thank you in advance for being Lilia’s new family!
