We wish we knew how so there are so many puppies roaming the streets in Miami Dade and even crazier than that, how so many people don't see them and hit them with their cars....Every weekend, the same thing happens over and over again, and the emails pour from the shelter, HBC resuce needed, HBC rescue needed, HBC (hit by car) rescue needed.
As if these little souls didn't have enough stacked against them as strays, and now they are injured, more often than not with expensive and complex injufires, with many rescues not being able to take on those kind of cases.
However, when we saw Kewpie's face and medical notes after being "HBC" with no chance of rescue, we had to step in and help. His skin and condition tell a story of a long time on the streets....covered in ticks and now road rash on top of it with "non weight bearing and lameless in right hind limb".
We placed our rescue hold and our pull team was disptached into the field to get him and get him to Veterinary Specialists of South Florida for evaulation and treatment.
Based on how many of them we have seen before, we believe we are looking at the dreaded "broken puppy pelvis". and need your help to make Kewpie's care possible!
