Dachshund Rescue South Florida hasn't added a story.
It is a story we have seen so many times over so many years, but now it is Lola's turn and we hope after all you have given over the last couple weeks, you have it in you to help us give Lola a safe place to land too.
Lola's Mom reached out to DRSF as Lola had gone down and Lola's Mom was not in a position to be able to care for her. Lola and her Mom were outside our area and so, as we do when people reach out for IVDD dogs, we let them know that there are other groups that are closer by.
But people looking for rescue for IVDD dogs are seemingly always given the same answer...."the other groups said that they can't help."
And so we gave the answer we always give when other Doxie rescues turn away IVDD dogs - "if you can get the dog here, we will find a way to help".
Lola's Mom wanted the best for her, but knew what her resources were to help and so she made the choice and did the thing that none of us would ever want to do, but is a chose made of nothing but love - she got in the car and drove Lola to us so that she could have the best care possible.
Lola went right to Southeast Veterinary Neurology and was found to be a candidate for surgery.
The great news is that Lola is a very good candidate for good recovery, but now with Winston (another IVDD case) Skittles, and Kratos - we are now back on the hook for another IVDD surgery and we are running out of ways to ask for help.
We aren't sure how it is with so many Doxie rescues in the state, we feel like we are the only ones who takes IVDD dogs but we will keep saying yes as long as you make it possible.
Tonight, Lola is safe with us and recovering from surgery and we are back again to ask your support to make a 4th miracle. Do you have it in you to give Lola the same chance as you gave Winston, Skittles, Kratos over the last couple weeks?
As always, when we say every dollar counts, we totally mean it and even if you aren't able to donate, your comment alone helps as the more comments we have, the more people get to see the post! Thank you, thank you for everyone who has been there for us over the last few weeks...we can't be DRSF without you!
