President Pam's phone rang with a call from Dr. DePompa at SEVN hoping for a miracle for a severely injured puppy.
We more than have our hands full with medically complex puppies and we sure as heck weren't looking to add a Shih tzu puppy to that mix, but without rescue, he was going to be euthanized.
That sure as heck wasn't going to happen on our watch and what this little man has been through already in his short life is enough to break your heart. Here's the back story...
This little boy was brought to SEVN unable to walk. He hadn't been able to walk in two days and he hadn't eaten anything in two days.
After some additional discussion and inquiry as to what could have happened, it came to light that the the people had stepped on the puppy and that is when he stopped walking.

No food since
No water since
No attempt to provide medical care since
....and after thinking about it a little more, the people who brought him remembered they stepped on him twice.
TWICE.
These people then promptly declined all medical care and asked for this little boy to be euthanized.
Dr. DePompa stepped out of the room and stepped up for a 4 month old puppy who had been abused, neglected, and was now facing a brain injury or broken spine at best and euthanasia at worst.
We certainly weren't in the market for Shihtzu puppy with a potential brain injury, but we sure as heck aren't in the business of turning away puppies who have likely been abused their entire short life....
"Yes, we will take him"
The people who brought this little boy in promptly signed the surrender paperwork, turned their backs and walked away, and this little puff ball who has been through so much will start his life over as Bumble.
He is going to x-ray to check for broken bones, fluids, meds, and some food (if appropriate) and we will see what we have and go from there. Any potential broken bones or brain injuries, either way, he is WAY too small for 4 months old, so who knows what else might be going on.
We know Bumble is not a Doxie, but we have fingers and paws crossed that you think his life matters too. Would you consider a donation of any size to help us provide the care he needs to have a chance at the family he deserves?
As always, a donation doesn't need to be big to be impactful and our miracles are made $1 at a time. Even if you are not able to donate, comments and shares are both free and help too to help Bumble's story get shared to more people!
