We were at the shelter to save another life, and when we walked by this dog in her cage, we could feel the sadness coming off of her. Our shelter volunteer stopped to pet her and this sweet soul would not even make eye contact....she had completely shut down. She was covered in sores, crawling in parasites, and had completely given up. She cowered in the corner, trying to dissapear into the wall....we have seen a lot of sadness at the shelter, but this was one of the saddest dogs we had ever seen, and we could not leave her there.
It was completely unplanned, she was not on our pull list for today, but we could not walk away, leaving her as likely so many others had done before. The shelter scrabmled to get her ready to leave with us, and we named this sweet, sad, sick, little girl Genie, and she was on her way to LeadER Aniaml Specialty Hospital with the others.
We alerted LeadER we had one more incoming than we had planned, on, and as always, they welcomed her with open arms, wisking Genie to the back to start examing her. We are guessing she is going to be anemic, full of worms, and need treatment for a horrible skin condition. All of things we can provide in short order, but the wound that will take longer to heal is Genie's heart as the light is completely gone from her eyes, we are guessing after a lifetime of struggle and hardship.
We are committed to giving Genie the life she deserves, and are back again to ask your help, to give a 2nd chance for a little girl that nobody was coming for, whose story was going to end on a cold table with hand did that did not love her. Will you help us make her dream come true?
