Dachshund Rescue South Florida hasn't added a story.

As rescuers, we often worry about whether there will be a passing of the rescue torch to the generations that follow behind us. The story of Isabella lets us know that there are young people getting ready to pick up the fight where we leave off.
Isabella's owners noticed that she was losing weight and as it continued, they knew that they were not in a position to provide her with whatever medical care she might need.
A chance meeting with a neighborhood young lady gave them hope that she would get the care that she needed.
That young lady happened to be a high school student who is enrolled at one of the local high school's vet programs. As they talked, it became clear that the owners were ready to surrender her to be sure she got the care that she needed. They asked this young lady to help them find a place for her where she could get the best care available. As luck would have it, the teacher of the program is a follower of DRSF and had seen Sugar Plum's story and recommended that she reach out to DRSF and see if we would take this little French Bulldog in.
The email was sent and President Pam called the young lady with all intentions of saying "We can't take another Frenchie.", but as she listened, she realized that Isabella needed DRSF and so here she is, an honorary doxie!
Surrender forms were signed and off Isabella went to LeadER Animal Specialty hospital to be evaluated to try to figure out why she is such a skinny girl. The first steps will be blood work to rule out anything with her organs and x-rays to be sure there is nothing in her digestive system that is causing an issue.
Once we have those reports back and the information from the thorough exam that she will get, we will be able to come up with a plan to help this sweet little girl.
The intel we have is that she is in good spirits, wants ALL of the attention from EVERYONE and is quick with a sideways kiss for anyone who will take one. We have no idea why her tongue is hanging out the side of her mouth, but we will see if that is a problem or just part of her charm.
We are so grateful for the young lady who recognized that Isabella needed help and used her resources and time to find a place where Isabella would get the care that she so desperately needs.
