We see it time and time again in the shelter, sweet little souls that have more than likely suffered their entire lives with one form of neglect or another and we have no way to know what they have been through or how they have made it through their circumstances or how their hearts break when their families give them up after they no longer "want to deal" with them.
Canoodle is one of those dogs...at ten years old she came to us with the laundry list of calling cards of neglect - morbidly obese (indicating she had a family that probably own fed her, not loved her), a heart murmur, a mouth full of rotten teeth, and an injury to her back leg that is severe enough that she won't stand on it.
It breaks our hearts to know that her family had to smell the horrific infection in her mouth and see her not walking on her leg, but yet chose to do nothing and when they did choose to do something they chose to get rid of her like any other "object" in their home.
The days of being unloved are over for Canoodle as she is now safe with us and under the care of the wonderful Dr Bruce at Dr Bruce's Animal Hospital. She has a bit of a long road ahead of her, but we want to give her every chance we can to have the life she deserves.
