Mickey and Oswald found themselves in a shelter in Tampa with every strike against themsleves that they could possibly have...  They are seniors, they are a bonded pair, they are both sick, had lost the only Dad they had ever known as he had become homeless, and the other Doxie Rescues in Florida turned them down as they too, are full. There was one phone call standing between them and the worst posible outcome, and it was a long shot.  DRSF is not rescue partners with this shelter and they are way out of our area.  This caring shelter team who would not take no for an answer made the call and got the answer they only dared dream that they might receive for these boys.....DRSF said yes.  We had to say yes. We could not turn our back and let their story end that way. 

Mickey is the older of the pair at  14 year old, with cataracts in both eyes, a growth on hind leg, and horrible teeth.  Oswald is the younger at 8 years old, also with horrible teeth and a severe heart murmur.  

Thanks to a very special foster and Forever home and the shelter going to the extra mile, these boys were pulled from Tampa today, made their way to Orlando, and will be transported to South Florida this weekend.

DRSF does not have the foster space or the funding for these boys.  We have a very difficult time finding the special kind of Angels who will open their home to one senior dog, let alone two, but we had to say yes and know that you would have wanted us to say yes too.
