So many have lost so much in these last few weeks and Pepita is one of them.  In the span of just a few days, she lost her home, her family, and then she lost her ability to walk.

Pepita came into the shelter as a frosty faced little girl who needed rescue.  We placed our hold, and sprung her from the shelter where she had mostly been sitting and this pretty girl made her way to Everglades Animal Hospital to get checked out, where was mostly sitting or laying down while in her kennel.  When she was ready to be discharged, Pepita then went to her foster home, where after she had a chance to stretch her legs a bit, Pepita's Foster Mom noticed something that was not right.  Pepita was wobbling and weak in her back end.

We know that nothing good comes of wobbling and weak in the back end and so Pepita's life was turned upside down once again as she made her way to SEVN to be examined by Dr. De Pompa who confirmed via an MRI that Pepita had IVDD.  

And so, with our war chest running extremely low, Pepita went to surgery to give her her best long term prognosis and we are crossing our fingers and paws that with so many in the same place that Pepita is, with so many challenges they are facing, that our community would have it in their hearts to help us fund our 5th IVDD surgery this year.  

Our war chest is still desperately trying to recover from so many urgent needs this year, but the same thing holds true....if everyone gave a little - Even $1, we could fund Pepita, and all our dogs and never have to worry about finances again.  We want to continue being able to be the safety net for so many in need, and all we need from you is a donation of any size - even $1.  Will you help us continue to be there for so many who have nobody but us?
