It is a story we have told over and over again and today, that reality has happened to Oliver.
This morning he had a home.
This morning he had a family.
Tonight Oliver is a DRSF dog because he has IVDD.
Along with us telling you the same story, we have the same conversation we have over and over again when families reach out to surrender for IVDD and we share the words and options, honed over literally a decade of having this conversation if surgery is not an option- meds, crate rest, support groups, you can get through it.... There is a good life for a doxie on the other side of IVDD.
Sadly, at the end of the day 99% of the people we talk with don't want a solution. They don't want coaching to push through the hard to get to the other side. They don't want suggestions of how to create a good setup for create rest or what meds to ask for.
They want to be done.
That is their choice and it is not our place to judge.
Karma will sort out who could or should have done what and in the mean time, we are here for the dogs who need a safe place to go.
Tonight, we are here for Oliver.
Tonight, Oliver is under the care of Dr. Marocco and is being evaluated to determine the best course of treatment for him.
