Dachshund Rescue South Florida hasn't added a story.
Not only does Rescue never stop, but the front lines for the vets and vet techs who provide care to these sweet souls never rests either.
Late last night, President Pam got a call from Dr. Johns at LeadER asking for help for a little pup who had been brought in in a dire condition. The family could not provide the care she needed and was going to euthanize....Dr. Johns played the only card she had that could possibly save the puppies life (along with keep her from having to euthanize a dog that might live with the correct care) and asked the family if they would be willing to surrender.
Despite so many things not going right for this sweet, girl, this was the only chance she had to live. Dr. Johns breathed a sign of relief, the family signed the surrender forms and the little girl we have named Willow was ours.
Things were not looking good for her - From Dr. Johns - "Just wanted to give a summary on Willow. She was flat out when she arrived, low blood pressure, fast heart rate, and inappropriate. Her abdomen was painful. Owners reported acute vomiting and diarrhea followed by collapse at home. She was stabilized with IV fluids. Most concerning bloodwork abnormalities are very high ALT (liver enzyme) and significantly prolonged clotting times. She is on IV fluids with electrolytes, medications to support her liver and hopefully counteract a suspected toxic insult. She received a fresh frozen plasma transfusion for her prolonged clotting times (secondary to the liver). "
Our social media team got the translation which pretty much boiled down to Willow didn't have parvo and it was highly likely she had eaten something toxic.
Without knowing what Willow might have eaten, the only thing we can do is supportive care to (hopefully) help her system process through whatever she ate and the only way we can do that is with your support.
If we can cover Willow's care, we can help her AND our war chest can be ready for the next late night call that comes from a Dr. we love looking for a solution for a little one that needs help.
As always, all it takes is $1 to join the hardest working, biggest loving team in rescue and even if you are not able to donate, comments and shares are free and help too! Thank you in advance for believing as we do, that Willow is worth it and deserves a chance.
