1000's of people have shared, commented, and supported Zelda's resuce journey after being brutally attacked by a neighbor at her former home and suffering multiple severe skull fractures.
When Zelda first came to us her left eye was of paramount concern and Dr. Unis has been monitoring it along with the rest of her neuro observations and treatment to help her survive the attack.
Despite our best efforts, it is now appearing that the eye is starting to atrophy and will need to be removed. An eye removal is normally a fairly straightforwrd procedure, but given Zelda's neuro condition and with additioal consideration of the fractures in her skull, the surgery will be significantly more complex, but needs to be done.
Dr. Unis wants to give sweet Zelda a few more days to gain her strengh before going to surgery, and we are back again to ask our DRSF family to support this sweet and innocent through (hopefully) her last major hurdle to her "happily ever after".
We could not be more confident that Dr. Unis is best candidate to perform this surgery backed up by the LeadER team and advanced equipment available to support Zelda through any unplanned events or circumstances that arise in the procedure.
We have asked so much for this beautiful girl aready and have fingers and paws crossed that the number of hearts Zelda has touched will help us cover this last step in her recovery.
