All Needing A 2nd Chance
DRSF has once again opened our doors to a wave of little long dogs who all arrived together after a very long ride, right before the Holiday Weekend. Picture very late nights, very early mornings, some controlled chaos , logistics that felt like we were coordinating a rocket launch, and enough coffee to keep Miami awake for a week — but we did it.
And now all SEVENTEEN are safe with us.
Meet this extraordinary group:
Champ, April, Wishbone, Ellie, Miss Holly, Emmy, Cranberry,
Bambi, Lola, Ruby, Callie, Livvy, Amelia, Ally, Whitley, and Mia.
(And we know our community are some STEALTH video viewers, and yes, there are Yorkies in there too….nobody gets left behind)
All of them were welcomed at Dr. Bruce’s Animal Hospital after a long day in the car. Everyone was checked out, cleaned up, hugged, capstar’d, fed, given water and tucked into a clean, fresh crate until the transports started for those dogs moving onto Pet Medical Center of Boca and Paws Veterinary Clinic, along with Dr. Bruce and his team for spays, neuters, dentals, and whatever else we might find.
And now we face the part where we come to you on bended knee as we are needing to provide 17 of everything….
•17 beds
• 17 blankets
• 17 harnesses and leashes
• 17 exams
• 17 fecals
• 17 heartworm tests
• 17 full blood panels
• 17 spay/neuter surgeries
• 17 rounds of vaccines
• A mountain of dentals
• And the unknowns that always show up once the real medical
work begins
Our average intake cost starts at roughly $500 per dog for exam, vaccines, tests, preventable, bed, blanket, harness, etc and that is even before we get to dentals, and whatever else we find on exams.
So here we are — exhausted, hopeful, and doing everything we can — asking you to help us cover their intake costs so we can continue saying “yes” when we’re needed most.

P.S. One quick public service announcement- Since we don’t know what these dogs need medically or what their personalities are, AND we don’t want a huge amount of people to fill out applications for a dog they might not get, we have closed our application at this time until we give these little ones a minute to settle in and get adjusted to their new lives.
