All surrender stories are sad, but some tug at your hearts more than others especially when incredible people step in to help...
We received an email a couple days ago, looking for help for an IVDD dog who is outside our area. We generally try to take only IVDD dogs in our tri county area, but the email really tugged at our hearts-
Chase's Mom passed away last year from Cancer and Chase had gone to live with his Grandmother who was trying her best to care for him. Chase came down with IVDD and due to the Grandmother's age and Chase's size, she was no longer able to care for him due to her physical and financial situation.
Chase's Grandmother only speaks Spanish and she was understandably broken hearted that she was going to have to euthanize her Daughter's dog.
But sometimes, in the middle of a hopeless situation, someone not only steps in to help, but goes WAY out of their way to find a solution.
One of the vet tech's at the clinic that Chase went to, reached out, a Hail Mary request to ask if we would take Chase with a lovely email telling Chase's story and all his family had been through.
Chase was WAY out of our area and we no rescue goes looking for IVDD dogs to take in. We gave our standard answer that solves most of the IVDD intake requests - "If you can get him here, we will take him".
And you know what? That is exactly what that incredible vet tech did. She drove Chase MANY hours, all the way to Miami where he is at SEVN to see if we can help him.
Where there is a will, there is a way and how can you say no to someone who is willing to go that far out of their way to help someone?
We are now turning to you, our community to ask for help from you in making another miracle to fund another IVDD surgery for a little one down on his luck.
