When the shelter in Sarasota reached out about a doxie puppy, they told us something wasn’t quite right with him and they were running out of options. 

His head movements are a little wonky.
His balance isn’t quite steady.
Sometimes his little legs just don’t cooperate with what his brain is trying to tell them to do.

But what he does have is a wagging tail, a spirit that clearly has no idea anything about him is different, and puppy eyes that look right through your soul. 

How could we say no?

We immediately reached out to our friends at Pet Ambulance and Wellness Services to get him safely out of the shelter in Sarasota and all the way to us and Southeast Veterinary Neurology which is the best place for a puppy with a brain problem to be. 

Our working guess is cerebellar hypoplasia, where the part of the brain that controls balance and coordination doesn’t fully develop. 

But right now, it is just a guess until he has a nuero exam and has an MRI before we fully know what we are working with and what treatment and his prognosis might be. 

What we DO know is that he needed someone to say yes. 

Two other rescues had already said no as it is a heavy lift and a big commitment to take on a neuro puppy. 

He needed someone to say yes to him.

So we did.

Now we’re asking for your help to keep that promise because we couldn't leave the little boy we have named Rupert behind simply because he had a wobbly head.

He has already made it from a shelter in Sarasota to a team determined to fight for him.

Now we just need a little help from the village that always shows up for dogs who need it most.
