Yesterday, at 10:30 PM, two road weary volunteers arrived at Dr. Bruce's Animal Hospital to complete their mission of delivering precious cargo.
Inside a minivan was that precious cargo.... and when the back was lifted and they were all brought inside - 13 dogs took their first step to their 2nd chance.
It had been a very long ride and they had all been very good. Although they were scared about so many new surroundings - they were all met with love, and pets as they were taken out of their crate 1 by 1 for a quick assessment, photo sessions, 1st round of meds, any mats removed, and then tucked into fresh clean crates with dinner and water to sleep off their trip until they catch their transports to go to our partner vets.
We are back on the hook for 13 of everything - spays, neuters, dentals, vaccines, beds, blankets, harnesses, and a a surgery for at least one case of bladder stones that we are aware of - over $600 of intake costs alone per dog + unknown medical costs.
