23 Dogs...One Weekend.
By the early hours of Sunday morning, twenty three dogs will have started their new lives.
Some need routine veterinary care. Some may need much more than that. Right now, we don't know every chapter of their stories.
What we do know is this...
They are counting on us and we are hoping you agree they are worth it.
This weekend, our volunteers will drive hundreds of miles. There will be early mornings, late nights, more coffee than anyone should probably drink, spreadsheets made in moving cars with mobile hot spots and logistics that somehow always seem impossible until this community comes together and makes them happen.
When the dust settles, these 23 little lives will officially become part of the DRSF family.
As exciting as rescue day is, it's only the beginning.
Twenty Three Dogs means Twenty Three of everything.
- 23 veterinary exams
- 23 fecal tests
- 23 heartworm tests
- 23 bloodwork panels
- 23 rounds of vaccines
- 23 spay/neuter surgeries
- 23 harnesses and leashes
- 23 beds
- 23 blankets
- And whatever additional medical care we discover once each dog is thoroughly examined.
Before we even begin treating anything unexpected, our average intake cost is approximately $800 per dog.
For 23 dogs, that's over $19,000 just to get them safely through the front door.
It's a big number.
But here's what we've learned after all these years...
There is never a perfect time to say yes to a dog in need.
Sometimes you simply say yes...and trust that this incredible community will help carry the weight.
Since 2009, you've done exactly that.
