All SAINTS, when they arrive, receive a full veterinarian exam.  And $150 may seem extreme as an initial cost but this is an average first visit cost as the animals that arrive at SAINTS have medical issues and thus we have added in a cost of a blood panel being done.

Jolly Ball
$20 CAD

At SAINTS we don’t just care for the physical needs of our saintly crew.  We try to ensure their mental well being is also taken care of.  One way is to give them toys to give them a chance to play.   A jolly ball is not only popular with dogs but also our farm animals.

12 cans of prescription urinary care wet cat food
$25 CAD

Many of our residents require special or a prescription food.  For example many of our resident cats have urinary issues and require  a prescription urinary care diet.

More Less
Two month supply of flea and tick prevention
$30 CAD

Being a shelter that has a constant array of dogs and cats coming and going at SAINTS it is important we maintain a schedule of flea and tick prevention. Two months of supply for a cat, on average, costs $30

Two months flea and tick protection small dog

Kuranda Dog Beds
$100 CAD

As everyone can imagine a shelter with older dogs (or incontinent dogs) goes through an awful lot of dog beds.  The kuranda style dog bed keeps the bed up off the floor and therefore lessens the workload on our staff.  It makes it much easier for them to keep the floor clean.  There are many sizes and different companies that produce these beds and the price can run from $40 to $270 so the $100 is an average.  (Also did you know the kuranda company sells replacement covers at about $30)

Wang Wang's very expensive medication
$500 CAD

Wang Wang arrived at SAINTS in May of 2021.  He has an auto immune disease called perianal fistula.  That very hard word to say means that Wang Wang requires very expensive medication.  So expensive that it is $500 a month.  Wang Wang would fully appreciate any support he gets.

Six Rain Barrels
$800 CAD

SAINTS water is provided by well water.  That means the well needs to cover the washing of the shelter, supply water to our residents, and even bathing them all with well water.  It isn't unusual for our well to dry up and then we are forced to have water trucked in... and added expense.  We would very much like to purchase rain barrels to conserve water for when the well dries up (and yes it also great for conservation)

One Dental for a Dog or Cat
$1,000 CAD

A huge percentage of our dogs and cats come in with dental issues.  That costs is $1000 - $1500 per animal.   The picture is of Skittles who, at 13 years of age, he came in with a need for dental work.  He is typical of the many small dogs we entered SAINTS over the years. (PS after receiving a dental Skittles was lucky enough to find his very own home)

Well Water Pump
$1,500 CAD

In August of this year our pump went kapoot.  The stand the pump was sitting on fell apart and first we needed to clean up the mess that created.  We are now looking to replace the pump.
