Bandit's K9Care Inc. hasn't added a story.
From Gemma’s owner - Four years ago I lost both of my Corgis within a couple of months of each other. My girl had been my rock and best friend who got me through a lot of rough times. She was older and had internal bleeding when I had to send her to the Rainbow Bridge. And my boy had suffered a back injury and the medication and steroids he was given to treat it caused liver damage. My heart was broken and I had become very depressed.
Gemma’s breeder learned what had happened and contacted me through Facebook to let me know she had a litter of puppies including Gemma. She offered me a special deal on her, saying that she would be good for my soul, and a few of my other friends agreed. Initially I wasn’t sure what to do, but then I had a dream about my first girl who was crying because I was so sad. I knew it was a sign that she wanted me to be happy with Gemma. So I agreed, to take her and nervously headed to the airport to pick her up after her flight from Kansas to California. The moment I saw Gemma I knew that this was the right decision, and this beautiful 10 week old Auggie girl (3/4 Pembroke Welsh Corgi, 1/4 Australian Shepherd) was there to heal my heart.
Fast forward to this month. I had to take Gemma to the vet because she developed a bad hot spot starting the day after she was at the groomers. I tried treating it topically as I have done in the past, but this time it appeared to become really infected. While Gemma was at the vets on the exam table I was rubbing her to keep her calm, and I noticed a lump on her neck. I asked the vet to check it out, as well as another lump that I felt on her chest.
After examining the 2 lumps the vet determined that they should be surgically removed. However the visit, testing and treatment of her hot spot cost me $400, which was all the money I had available. The estimate for the surgery, including pre-surgery blood work and cytology, was over $1,000 (see estimate in photos), which was more than I am able to afford.
My only income is Social Security, and I am unable to qualify for Care Credit because my ex-husband left me with credit problems that I have been doing my best to repair. My Gemma has truly been a life saver for me, and because of that I reached out to Bandit’s BandAid to ask for some help so that I can get her the medical care that she needs. I would be so grateful for any support you can give to my special girl.
