My name is Matheus, I live in Brazil, and I’m reaching
out to the world because I’ve run out of options. I’m trying to save
the life of a dog who came into mine by chance — and changed it
forever.Alfe is an Australian Shepherd who belonged to a neighbor of
my girlfriend. He lived in a shared rental house, spending most of his
time on the porch. Over time, we noticed that he had unpredictable
episodes — sometimes growling, sometimes biting when someone got too
close. It was frightening, and no one really understood why he acted
that way.My girlfriend took him to several vets, and we were told it
could be chronic "phantom pain." It seemed like something
neurological, something beyond our reach. The situation got worse when
a visitor was bitten, and soon after, the landlord’s daughter — afraid
of dogs — moved into the house. Alfe could no longer stay there.To
protect my girlfriend from losing her home and to give Alfe a chance,
I took him in temporarily. I thought I could find him a new family,
someone who might have more experience or resources. But days turned
into weeks. I contacted shelters, posted in forums, and spoke with
local organizations — no one could take him.And then, I took him to
yet another veterinarian. This time, we finally got an answer. Alfe
isn’t aggressive — he’s in pain. Constant, intense pain caused by a
serious spinal condition. His "episodes" weren’t behavioral
problems. They were his way of begging for relief.The vet prescribed
medications — Neo B, Prednisone, and Tramadol — which have helped a
little, but they’re just temporary relief. The only real solution is
surgery. And that’s when I had to face a terrible truth: I can’t
afford it.Here in Brazil, this kind of care is expensive, and I don’t
have the means. I’m doing everything I can, but it’s not enough.
That’s why I’m reaching out beyond borders. Because I believe that
somewhere out there, someone might understand what it means to love a
life that others have already given up on.I don’t want to put Alfe
down. I don’t want to give up on him. He’s not a violent animal. He’s
been misunderstood, ignored, and now, he’s finally being seen for what
he truly is: a dog in pain, who just wants to be okay.I’ve decided to
keep Alfe. I want to give him the life he never had — a safe home,
comfort, and dignity. But I can’t do it alone.If you can help in any
