Please help “David Bowie Meowy” regain his health after being left to fend for himself as a street cat for several years—until he could do it no more. Down to skin and bones, a broken tooth and lack of veterinary care left him drooling and struggling to eat. No longer able to groom himself, his once-beautiful long orange fur had become a dirty blanket of painful mats. We need to raise $900 to treat the dental pain that makes it hard for him to eat.
Despite his suffering, David gave head butts and purrs of approval to those who came to offer food and petting in the parking lot where he spent most of his time. How a cat as social and loving as David fell into such dire circumstances is a question we may never be able to answer.
As winter set in, a handful of concerned people noticed David’s deteriorating condition and decided to act. Most local rescues were full or not taking adult cats. Others became disinterested when they learned he was ear-tipped which was a sign he could be feral. On the contrary, it was obvious that David had once been someone’s friendly companion who had sadly been lost or forgotten.
With a winter storm looming and a makeshift plan, a few determined individuals stepped in to catch David—bringing him indoors to begin his healing journey. After years on the pavement, he finally returned to some of the comforts he had once known: a safe place to sleep, a warm blanket, and soft food that didn’t hurt to eat. His progress continued with a visit to the vet, where he was treated for parasites and shaved clean of the debilitating mats. Throughout the entire process, David’s constant purring and endearing personality charmed everyone he met.
While most of his bloodwork was encouraging, David tested positive for feline leukemia—a diagnosis that will likely shorten his life. In a stroke of serendipity, a dedicated foster has stepped forward to help him recuperate and heal, ensuring his remaining years are the happiest and healthiest they can possibly be.
Currently David’s most pressing need is a dental cleaning and removal of any painful teeth. Because he tested positive for feline leukemia, keeping his immune system strong is vital—and that starts with a healthy mouth. Please help us meet our $900 goal to accomplish this!
David has spent years fending for himself and now he needs us to look out for him. Thank you for any amount you can give to help David Bowie Meowy recover and go on to live the comfortable, pampered life of a rock star he deserves! ❤️❤️❤️
