Vashon Island has a longstanding problem with dumped and neglected domestic rabbits living on various properties on Cemetery Road. For the last 2-1/2 years, our family of bunny-loving people has been humanely trapping and caring for as many bunnies from this situation as possible, since King County Animal Control has not helped out.
To date, we have rescued 11 rabbits and welcomed them into our home, providing the love, nutrition, and medical care (including necessary spays/neuters) they deserve -- funding virtually all of the costs personally. Most of the rabbits have special needs for which there are high medical costs, due to the parasites, diseases, genetic issues, and other dangers faced living on the run.
Margot is our most recent rescued rabbit from Cemetery Road. She just gave birth to 5 babies, but sadly was not healthy enough to care for them. We have just learned she has another litter of at least 4 rabbits in her uterus, likely all stillborn. If she is not spayed immediately, she risks sepsis and death.
Please help us cover Margot's medical costs, including the emergency surgical intervention related to her pregnancy, parasite screenings, and important vaccinations.
Your support helps sustain this important rescue work and our long-term vision to one day end this cycle of neglected/feral rabbits roaming (and proliferating) on Cemetery Road, destroying personal properties, getting struck by cars, and being exposed to a range of health issues.

Margot update, August 14, 2026 @ 8:15 p.m.
Margot survived her surgery today! We learned that her uterus had ruptured during labor with the first 5 babies, and the remaining 4 babies were free-floating inside her abdomen (no longer alive).
Margot was at serious risk of sepsis and had been in a lot of pain. It is a huge relief knowing that she is no longer suffering! It is uncertain how many litters Margot has already had, at the estimated young age of only 13 months. But this is an example of the dangers of overbreeding.
We are so sad about the loss of her babies, and also feeling good about saving not only Margot from the streets, but that her 9 additional bunnies won't be roaming Cemetery Road, susceptible to other health issues and continuing the problems of overbreeding.
We’re incredibly touched by the generosity and caring already shown toward Margot’s medical expenses. Thank you so much for your big hearts!
