Hello, my name is Claudia. I’m a Canadian citizen living in Chile, and for the past 13 years I have been solely responsible for the Hogar de Kiltros, a shelter that cares for 65 rescued adult and senior dogs.

This shelter was created to give a second chance to dogs that were overlooked for too long—those who aged without a family, those who lived most of their lives on the streets, or those who were left behind when they became “too much work.”
Here, they found something simple yet precious: safety, food, companionship, and dignity.

For more than a decade, I have sustained this place with my own resources and daily work. I have taken care of everything: food, medication, cleaning, medical needs, maintenance, and even something as basic as ensuring access to clean water, which we must purchase every 15 days to supply the shelter
It has been intense, enormous, and deeply meaningful.

But today we are facing a critical moment.
We are running out of food, we have no funds left to replenish it, and we urgently need to purchase water again.
This isn’t about improvements or new projects—it’s about the minimum required for them to live.

This call for help does not come from a place of victimization, but from responsibility.
I’ve been here for them all these years, and I will continue to be. But now I need others to join me in sustaining this home during a moment when every day truly matters.
