From Domino’s owner: I’ve had Domino since she was a puppy. She has been very healthy all of her life. She had one minor surgery about 5 years ago to remove a fatty growth, but until now she has had no other health issues.
I took Domino to her veterinarian in mid-June for a possible UTI, as she was having some accidents on the bed, and had also vomited a few times. The vet did a quick ultrasound to see if she had bladder stones that might have contributed to her problems. That is when she spotted a mass by her spleen. The vet recommended that we follow up with blood work and x-rays.
In early July I was able to take her back for the recommended testing after saving up some funds and applying to Bandit’s BandAid for some additional help. Upon abdominal palpitation my vet could feel the mass near her spleen. She noted that Domino had lost about 4 pounds in the last couple of months. Her blood work showed a lower than normal red blood cell and higher than normal white blood cell count. And the x-rays revealed a large splenic mass. Thankfully her other organs and lungs looked good.
Given her current condition it is recommended that the surgery be done as soon as possible. She would go in as an emergency patient so that surgery could be done without the normal 2 week scheduling delay. We are ready to more forward as soon as we can raise the funds!
Covid-19 has greatly affected both my and my husband’s work since March (I work at a kennel and it was closed down for a few months). All of the money we were able to save was used for Domino’s exams and testing. We love Domino so much, and that is why we reached out to Bandit’s BandAid for assistance.
