Seven years ago, we started Knick Knack Pittie Pack hoping to help pups that needed us... hoping to educate people... hoping to stop the prejudice against "pit bull type dogs"... hoping to inspire others and make a difference... And we have!
But we have because we have a wonderful village supporting us... one that pushes us to keep going and is always there when we and our pups need them... and unfortunately, this is one of those times.
We have hit a type of dead end... donations have been low, adoptions have been lower... we seem to have more sanctuary pups, mostly for medical reasons, than adoptable pups and so many need some type of vetting, from annual exam to vaccinations to x-rays to medications...
Our checking account is terribly low and more bills are due this month... we pay boarding/rent for our off-site pups but without that, eleven dogs would have nowhere to go/be... we pay for storage to house our spare crates, cages, kennels, supplies, event items, etc... we pay monthly for liability insurance and for our CareCredit account, which always seems to be maxed out... it takes $3500 a month to run the rescue and that does not include vetting or emergencies...
We would love to be able to get back on track financially, make sure all pups continue to get to the vet if/when needed, be able to buy canned food for the ones that need it and burger, chicken breasts, rice, diced potatoes, green beans, etc for everyone else so I can continue to cook for them and add it to their dry food... keeps bellies from being upset with the food changes and keeps messes down so we spend less time cleaning and have more time to play with the pups.
We want to be more able to help our local area pups... We help the ones we can but there are so many that need us that we have no room for... no funds for... no way to help them... we were recently able to take in Jett, a petite young girl living in a drainage ditch in our area who is now realizing that she matters thanks to her amazing foster family ... we also welcomed Buddy to the rescue family, an 11-year old Boxer who has lived his entire life outside by himself and is now living INSIDE, on a nice comfy bed, with doggie friends and who now understands that he is loved beyond measure...
We are hoping that you, our village, will continue to stand with us and help us through this extremely rough time... we have big plans for 2020 and want all of you with us!
