Our youngest cat, Mimi, just 5 years old, has been diagnosed with kidney failure. His body temperature dropped to a dangerously low 34.8°C, and his heartbeat is weak.
He is currently hospitalised, on emergency IV fluids, and undergoing tests to understand the full extent of his condition.
The vets suspect that Mimi may have been born with an underlying kidney condition, possibly with underdeveloped or smaller kidneys. This is something we only discovered during this emergency, and it came as a complete shock.Mimi has always seemed healthy, but this condition may have been silently progressing over time.
The vet team is doing everything they can to stabilise Mimi and give him the best possible chance of recovery. With continued fluids, medication, and constant monitoring, there is still hope — but it depends on what the tests reveal and whether we can afford to keep him under their care.
The cost of emergency treatment, hospitalisation, and ongoing tests is quickly adding up. We’ve already stretched our resources as far as we can, but Mimi needs continued care to survive, and we’re falling short financially at this critical point.
