Laurens Wildlife Rescue (LWR) receives upwards of 200 orphaned, injured and ill birds, mostly raptors, each year. While we cannot save them all, our goal is to provide the best care possible and a humane end to suffering if release back into the wild is not an option. 

In a recent example, this adult red-phase screech owl's lower left eyelid was slit from corner to corner; he nearly lost his eye. But the skilled vets who care for LWR's birds were able to suture the damaged eyelid back together, thereby saving his eye. He remains under care but will ultimately be released back into the wild.
