Welcome to our fundraiser for Ocean Acres Animals Sanctuary in Barbados!
A little bit about us:
We are Denise & Tal. We met through work almost a decade ago, and became fast friends. We both lost our beloved little furry ones in the space of a year, and then both adopted our rescues in 2022. Betty, the 3-legged "potcake" came from Barbados where she was hit by a car roaming the streets, and Vinny, the part dog/part lion came from Mexico. We love to travel together and we LOVE dogs. So this year, our girls' trip will consist of a little R&R, and a lot of giving back. We're headed to Barbados in February to volunteer at the shelter that Betty came from and we can't wait to help all those puppies in need.
A little bit about Ocean Acres Animal Sanctuary:
Started in 2019 when they took over an existing shelter that could no longer operate, Ocean Acres Animal Sanctuary rescues and rehomes hundreds of dogs and cats every year in Barbados. They're a non-profit who works tirelessly to not only rescue and rehabilitate, but also to educate the local community and support spay and neuter clinics on the island. What we're hoping to do:
We're looking to you - our amazing and generous friends, family, coworkers, and neighbours who know us well and our deep love of dogs to help us give back to this incredible organization. We'd love to get to Barbados with the funds raised and purchase food, crates, blankets, bowls etc., and also to support some spays and neuters while we're there. But sssshhhhh - we want it to be a surprise!
We recognize that times may be a bit tough for everyone right now, so if you just want to follow along with us, that's great too! But if you can spare a few dollars for these loyal and grateful animals in need, that would be so so wonderful. We will post updates and photos along the way so get ready to see lots of smiling dogs and cats (and of all the people that love them).
