Anne Marie was rescued from a puppy mill by the North Texas Australian Shepherd Rescue. When she came to them she was basically feral, which was the case with other dogs they had taken from this Oklahoma breeder in the past. After staying with the rescue’s director for a number of months to decompress and learn about living in a house and with people, Anne Marie was spayed and an Inguinal Hernia was repaired. She was eventually moved into a regular foster home to continue learning about living as a pet in order to get ready for adoption.



Her veterinarian wanted to wait a while after her previous surgery before addressing her ear problems. As you can see from the photo of her ear, Anne Marie will need a total ear canal ablation in both of her ears. They are so bad that she can hardly hear now, and after the surgery she will be completely deaf, but it is necessary to eliminate the pain and constant infections. It is terribly sad that anyone could allow such a sweet dog to suffer with these health problems while using her as a breeder.

The good news is that the rescue already has a potential adopter for Anne Marie. However they asked that the surgery completed before taking her, which is a reasonable request.

Approximately $3,000 has already been expended on Anne Marie’s medical care. The rescue does not have the capacity to raise the additional amount needed for her ear surgery, so Bandit’s K9Care agreed to partner with them to help with fundraising.

The current (revised) surgery estimate is between $3,600 and $4,200.  The rescue will be using a veterinarian they have worked with in the past who can do it for significantly less than other specialist. We have therefore reduced her original fundraising goal accordingly.
