Hi everyone! We're Arya and Kiera, a Bengal and a Maine Coon mix living in Arlington, VA.

Earlier this year, our mom lost her primary source of income when the company she contracted with cut all DEI initiatives to align with the Trump administration’s policies. Our mom is a freelance graphic designer and had been designing marketing and event collateral for the DEI programs that were rolled back. She has been looking for remote, part-time graphic design jobs and short-term, temporary contracts since February. She has sent out at least 165 applications, all without success. Because of her health issues, she can only work part time from home and has never worked in any other field, so it's not like she can get any job that is available (you would also be surprised at how hard it is to even come by a server or retail job these days!). 

We're now overdue for our annual shots and wellness checkups. We have IBD and we're on a prescription diet. By Virginia state law, our vet can't renew the prescription for our hydrolyzed protein food without having seen us within the last year. Our food is running out and we need to be seen ASAP! 

Since we’re 11 years old and 7 years 6 months old, we also need bloodwork.. At our age, it's recommended to even do biannual wellness exams and bloodwork to detect potential issues early on.  

Mommy had managed to scrape together some money to at least cover our wellness exams and shots, but it's all gone because she had to use it to keep our electricity and internet on. She did try to get help with our electric bill from our county's Department of Human Services, a church and a charity, but the charity was overwhelmed and couldn’t help quickly enough to prevent disconnection, while the DHS and the church never got back to our mom despite her follow-up calls and emails. 

So now we have no choice but to count on your generosity to recoup the vet money and possibly raise funds for our bloodwork as well. We would need at least $300 just for the wellness exams, but if we could raise an additional $600 to cover our bloodwork, that would be fantastic! 

We understand that these are tough times for many people in the US, with all the DOGE layoffs, the dismantling of entire government agencies, and grocery prices increasing because of inflation and Trump's tariffs, but if you're a person in a stable financial situation who hasn't been affected, please do consider helping us!
