Hello, I'm Julia and this sweet boy is Pooka, my happy, adventurous lil chihuahua. This week started like any other with what was supposed to be a normal vet check up. That led to a cytology exam on a mysterious new lump and then I got the call yesterday informing me that Pooka has a Malignant Mast Cell Tumor on his back left leg, right above his lymph node.

He needs IMMEDIATE surgery so it doesn't spread any further, especially because if it spreads to his lymph nodes which are very close to the mass it can spread to the rest of his body very quickly. First he needs bloodwork and x-rays to prep him for surgery, confirm the size of the tumor  and see that there are no other masses and then they will do the surgery to remove it. The bloodwork and X-ray are estimated to cost $900 and then the surgery to remove the tumor is estimated to be $2,000 - $2200. The surgery is scheduled for this coming week and I am so beyond scared, not to mention that this sudden turn of events has caught me woefully unprepared, which is why I am turning to you for help to get Pooka the treatment he needs. 

Pooka and I have been together for almost 4 years now and the thought of him in pain or losing him feels like my heart is being ripped out of my chest. He is such a happy, energetic, strong and sweet boy and I know he has so much life left to live. He has brought more love and happiness to my life than I ever could have dreamt when I spontaneously decided to stop by the Humane Society one afternoon 4 summers ago and all I want is to keep him as happy and healthy as he can be for many years to come.

All donations will go directly to Pooka's surgery so he can have his best chance at a full recovery.
