Cheryl Justice’s boy Aubrey became quite sick about a month ago. He had to be hospitalized for about 10 days, during which they did a lot of testing to try to determine the cause of his problems. Unfortunately nothing was conclusive. The final procedure they recommended was an endoscopy and colonoscopy with biopsies, which at the time was just too costly in addition to the ER hospitalization. Consequently he was released with a plan to treat his symptoms, which included a number of medications and prescription food.

Aubrey had been improving, having regained his appetite and some weight, but yesterday he starting having problems again, including vomiting and not wanting to eat. Cheryl spoke to the specialty center and they want Aubrey back for observation and fluids. And they strongly recommend the scope and biopsy so that can determine what specific condition they need to treat.

The estimate for the scope, biopsies and related hospitalization is about $5,000. Our organization can help with his ER stay today, but our other funds are committed to 3 dogs already scheduled for surgery. 

For those of you who may not know Cheryl, she was the Vice President of Bandit’s K9Care from its formation in 2018 to the spring of 2021, when she left to deal with a personal loss.

Over the years Cheryl spent countless numbers of hours working with our clients and medical professionals, and to raise the funds needed for our medical program.

Aubrey has been by Cheryl’s side since he was a puppy. He has helped her get through a lot of struggles, particularly in the last 20 months. The only way to get Aubrey the proper treatment for his illness is to do the scope and biopsies.
