We are raising money for Rocco’s dental and bladder stone surgeries.
Background:
A few months ago, I noticed Rocco had lost a few teeth. I was able to
schedule an appointment in August expecting to hear he would need a
dental surgery and tooth extractions. I was not prepared to hear that
not only did he need a dental surgery, he had an inflamed liver,
possible tumor, and a dozen bladder stones. We also discovered he had
a bb lodged in his chest from his days of being a stray prior to us
adopting him. We have had three appointments since - lab work, X-rays
and prescription medications I hadn’t anticipated. In the middle of
this, our vet passed away unexpectedly and our regular animal hospital
had to postpone surgeries indefinitely so we had to find a new vet
hospital and get reestablished elsewhere.
Rocco does not have any of the typical symptoms the vet would expect so we had no idea anything was wrong besides his periodontal disease. He is happy and playful, and cuddly and completely unbothered by his laundry list of health issues.
It feels selfish to ask for financial help for an animal when there
are so many others suffering in more significant ways, but the vet is
highly recommending we get this done in the next five months and I
don’t know if we can pull it off. Making the decision to lay Tyga to
rest last year was the most devastating decision I’m still healing
from and I’m not willing to make that decision with Rocco when he
doesn't appear to be suffering in any way.
The estimate we were provided is roughly $6,000 for both surgeries.
(I uploaded the documentation.) We believe we can comfortably cover
one of those surgeries, but we are asking for help covering the
second. If we can get these surgeries taken care of, Rocco should have
many more years to come.
