Hi! By now, a lot of you know about Blue and our journey to try and find him a loving home. For those who don't, here's a little context:

Blue is a 12 year old mixed breed dog who was adopted from the Franklin County Dog Shelter by a dear friend in 2020. He was an anxious dog from the get go, and while we don't know why this is, he has been on medication to deal with it since his adoption. He very quickly became a snuggle buddy and huge emotional support for my friend, and was by her side for three long and difficult years. Sadly, my friend passed away in December of 2023, and Blue lost his person and his home. We were incredibly fortunate to have a wonderful foster take him in almost immediately. He is very well taken care of and has bonded with her and her family, but we still want him to find his forever home. One where he can snuggle up to his new person and live his remaining years in peace. 

In the meantime, the cost of Blue's care has fallen to both myself and the foster family. Thankfully, we did initially receive some funds from my friend's estate, which went towards his daily care (food, treats, meds...) as well as a check up with his vet and a couple of boarding sessions during the holidays. However, that has since been used up, and we are left having to cover the cost of things ourselves. Unfortunately, this isn't something I can continuously afford, and while the foster family has generously been caring for Blue and covering many costs as they are able, I would love to be able to ensure that his basic costs are covered for a while, rather than them paying out of pocket. 

So, this is where I ask for your help. If anyone is able to donate to his care, it would be appreciated more than I can probably express. If you aren't able to donate (trust me, I understand!), then please consider sharing this fundraiser, even if it's just to help us keep searching for Blue's forever home. 

For transparency's sake, here is a breakdown of costs that Blue's care includes*:

• Food and Treats - Approximately $50 a month
• Meds -Trazadone ($11.40 for a 2 week supply), Fluoxetine ($34.15 for a 3 month supply), and Cosequin ($19.96 for 1 month supply)
• Veterinary Visits and Care Plan with Banfield Pet Hospital - Most recent check up and vaccine boosters + monthly wellness plan fee = $138.38. The wellness plan itself costs $79.55 a month afterwards 
• Boarding at All Paws  - $65 a night as needed when folks are out of town. For example, we are boarding Blue for 7 days from 3/25-3/31, which will equal $455.00, half of which is due at drop off. (This is the boarding facility that Blue has used since his adoption. Due to his anxious nature and the staff's familiarity with him, I am loathe to board him elsewhere and add yet another big change to his life.)

So that's a lot. I wish I could cover more than I already have, but I never expected to have to beyond a certain point, and until we land a new home for Blue, this is where we are at. But I promised that I would help Blue live his best life, so that's what I intend to keep working towards. 

To note: There were several of us who were contacting various rescues around the area for months, prior to my friend's passing, in hopes of finding somewhere to place Blue. Unfortunately, none were able to take him in, with most not responding to our inquiries (I imagine they are bombarded with similar requests all of the time.) And while it's no secret that I love animals, my apartment complex doesn't allow dogs. If you have someone or somewhere that you think would make a good fit for him, please let me know! I can share more details about Blue and we can see if it sounds like a match. 

I chose $2000 as a general goal. This should cover several months of basic needs, plus an upcoming boarding session. If Blue were to be adopted prior to this, the funds would go directly towards his care, in whatever way works best.
