Early this morning, on our way to work, we heard faint purring and found a cat in our front yard who was spread out on all fours and not moving. As there was nothing we could do, we wrapped him in a towel and rushed him to the emergency vet.

Sadly, X-rays showed multiple fractures, the most serious being a dislocation of the thoracic vertebrae leading to paralysis of the lower limbs, and the veterinarian suspected that the fall from height had caused severe lung damage, with a lot of fluid build-up, and he was critically ill and on the verge of death, requiring 24h of oxygen intake. The kitten's condition was serious and complex, and Rocky required further diagnosis and repair by a specialised surgeon. The cost of his diagnostic and surgical care could easily exceed $2,500.00 to $3,000.00.
