Last summer, I arrived home to my apartment building and saw a small black dog in heat distress. He was very friendly and appeared to have been recently abandoned. It was a very hot day and I looked around for an owner. Finding none, I transported him to a vet and boarding facility nearby and arranged for him to be boarded, neutered, vaccinated, and health checked. Meanwhile, I created posters to try to locate the owner.
No owner stepped forward. I have two dogs and two cats and cannot keep the dog, whom I named Flynn Rider. He has been in boarding since October 2024. I have tried multiple times to have him adopted locally, however, it has become apparent that due to the fact that Flynn walks with a limp, no one here wants him. I have reason to believe that limp was why he was abandoned outside in the first place.
After many failed attemps of finding him a forever home here in China, I have started the process of relocating him to my family in the US. They will find him a forever home and ensure that he is loved and cared for. He is in excellent health, loves people and other animals, and has no pain or issues with his limp, which I have had checked by my vet. I have hired an agency here to help move him to the States and can afford all the costs on this side.
The real issues arise on the side of the United States. Mandatory quarantine will cost a minimum of $1,700, and that's if everything goes well. In addition, he can only land in the US at certain airports, meaning I have to arrange ground or air transport from LAX to New Mexico, which will cost anywhere from $500 to $2,000.
This is where I need help. It is costing me around $7,000 to arrange all the things here. Adding another $3,000 or so may seem small, however, I am struggling to get to the place where I have managed that amount, even with saving. I pay around $250 a month for his boarding at a wonderful facility here (where I safely and comfortably board my pets when I travel) along with other costs.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I really would like to get Flynn to the US as soon as possible, but have had to push it back to October as a tenative departure date. I'd love for him to leave here as early as September, but the costs in America give me pause. Flynn will be around a year and a half to 2 years old, with plenty of hope, spunk, and love remaining.
Please give and help me get Flynn to America and his forever home!
