There are moments in life when the heart understands things before the mind does. Signs you don’t want to see, choices that seem impossible to make. But then someone – maybe the smallest of all – reminds you that dreams are meant to be chased, even when they’re scary.
Our story began twenty years ago, beneath the vast sky of Australia. It was there that we fell in love, it was there that we first dreamed of a future together. Then we returned home, and our family started to grow. Not with children, but with furry souls who, at different times in our lives, found their way to us. We didn’t choose them: they chose us. And so, day by day, we became many, a somewhat crazy family, infinitely full of love.
Two years ago, we heard that call once more. Australia wasn’t just a memory, it was home. So we returned to get married, and with even more certainty in our hearts, we decided that it would be our final destination. But not yet. Our pets are elderly, and especially Cherry, our little warrior, at 17 years old, could not endure such a long journey.
Then, almost as if it had been written from the beginning, an opportunity came up that would allow us to leave. It was our chance, but how could we even think about it knowing that Cherry needed us? So, with gratitude, we said no. And two days later, Cherry passed away.
We can’t explain the pain of that moment. It was as if the world stopped, as if a part of our family was broken forever. But in the silence, in the emptiness left by her absence, we heard her last gift: a clear sign, almost a whisper in the wind. “Now you can go.”
We called back. We said yes.
Now our dream is there, ready to be lived. But there is still a huge obstacle: six dogs, three cats, our family. The idea of having them fly in the cargo hold of a plane breaks our hearts. They have given us everything, and now it’s up to us to protect them, to ensure they have a safe journey, a journey without fear.
For the first time in our lives, with humility, we ask for help. A private flight could take them to their destination safely, but we can’t afford it on our own. And so, we turn to you: to those who believe in love that knows no bounds, to those who understand what it means to fight for your family.
Every contribution, big or small, will help us make this dream come true. Because family stays together, always. Even among the clouds

Ci sono momenti nella vita in cui il cuore capisce le cose prima della mente. Segnali che non vorresti vedere, scelte che sembrano impossibili da fare. Ma poi arriva qualcuno – magari il più piccolo di tutti – a ricordarti che i sogni vanno inseguiti, anche quando fanno paura.
La nostra storia è iniziata vent’anni fa, sotto il cielo immenso dell’Australia. È lì che ci siamo innamorati, è lì che abbiamo sognato per la prima volta un futuro insieme. Poi siamo tornati a casa, e la nostra famiglia ha iniziato a crescere. Non con figli, ma con anime pelose che, in momenti diversi della nostra vita, hanno trovato la strada per raggiungerci. Non li abbiamo scelti noi: sono loro che ci hanno scelto. E così, giorno dopo giorno, siamo diventati tanti, una famiglia un po’ folle e infinitamente piena d’amore.
Due anni fa, abbiamo sentito quel richiamo di nuovo. L’Australia non era solo un ricordo, era casa. Così siamo tornati per sposarci, e con ancora più certezza nel cuore abbiamo deciso che quella sarebbe stata la nostra destinazione finale. Ma non subito. I nostri animali sono anziani, e soprattutto Cherry, la nostra piccola guerriera, con i suoi 17 anni sulle spalle, non avrebbe retto un viaggio così lungo.
Poi, quasi come se fosse stato scritto da sempre, è arrivata un’opportunità di lavoro che ci avrebbe permesso di partire. Era la nostra occasione, ma come potevamo anche solo pensarci sapendo che Cherry aveva bisogno di noi? Così, con gratitudine, abbiamo detto di no. E due giorni dopo, Cherry se n’è andata.
Non sappiamo spiegare il dolore di quel momento. È stato come se il mondo si fermasse, come se un pezzo della nostra famiglia si spezzasse per sempre. Ma nel silenzio, nel vuoto lasciato dalla sua assenza, abbiamo sentito il suo ultimo regalo: un segnale chiaro, quasi un sussurro nel vento. “Ora potete andare.”
Abbiamo richiamato. Abbiamo detto sì.
Ora il nostro sogno è lì, pronto per essere vissuto. Ma c’è ancora un ostacolo enorme: sei cani, tre gatti, la nostra famiglia. L’idea di farli volare nella stiva di un aereo ci spezza il cuore. Loro ci hanno dato tutto, e ora sta a noi proteggerli, garantire loro un viaggio sicuro, un viaggio senza paura.
Per la prima volta nella nostra vita, con umiltà, chiediamo aiuto. Un volo privato potrebbe portarli a destinazione senza rischi, ma da soli non possiamo permettercelo. E così, ci rivolgiamo a voi: a chi crede nell’amore che non ha confini, a chi sa cosa significhi lottare per la propria famiglia.
Ogni contributo, piccolo o grande, ci aiuterà a realizzare questo sogno. Perché la famiglia resta unita, sempre. Anche tra le nuvole.
