Nala recently came to us from Rocky Mount where she was nearly euthanized. Thanks to Geri Dobson and her family this girl was saved. Today Geri took her to be spayed. The vet dropped the pedicle and she hemorrhaged! The pedicle is the ligament where they cut the ovary off of. They have to tie it closed so it doesn't bleed as it's where the blood supply runs to the ovary. The vet dropped it and she bled! They had to cut her from her sternum to her crotch to find it and tie it off. The vet told Geri that Nala needed to go to ER but that she would not pay for it! When Geri could not reach us for aurhorization they gave her 2 choices, take the dog home, where she may die, or they would leave her at their clinic alone, and she may die! They put Nala in Geri's car and closed their doors, like she was nothing. After being turned away by 2 ER's, one because they were just too busy to fit her in (yes they told me that), and one that is only seeing ICU patients due to the corovavirus pandemic, Nala was finally evaluated by the 3rd ER she's been to tonight and they do feel she needs to be kept overnight for supportive care and monitoring. She's in extreme pain and dehydrated. They said they feel the bleeding was stopped, but they want to keep her to be safe. The estimate is $1200 to $1400. We again need your help.
